Translation Manager

Translation Manager

The Translation Manager is our integration of a CAT solutions, like SDL Trados in eZ Publish.

Communication is the process of information exchange between sender and recipient. In this case the recipient is the user of the website and the sender is the author / editor of the content.

Translations improve the communication between sender and receiver.

The editor is a person that creates new content or edits already existing content. Thereby he only has limited knowledge about other languages. Hence he creates the content only in that he knows well.

A translator translates the given content from a base language into any other. Translators also care about syntax and semantics of the content. After creating the content the translator cares about the accomondation of the content to the existing visual elements.

What is the Translation Manager?

xrow's Translation Managerintegrates a Translation Memory like SDL Trados in the Enterprise Content Management System eZ Publish. It enables professional translators to translate the content from an eZ Publish installation with the traditional translation software. The Translation Manager helps editor and translators to collaborate in an optimized workflow.

One of the main features in our concept is that the translator doesn't have to work in the ordinary eZ Publish installation, he can work in his common CAT environment.

The typical workflow in the Translation Manager:

  1. The editor creates noew content and gets into the pre publishing trigger or he can select multiple objects / object structures that need to be translated.
  2. The editor is sent to the translation form where he can select one or more translators for translating his content.
  3. The translator enters the translation dialog with the editor.
  4. The translator translates the the editor's content in his professional translation application.
  5. A second translator can approve the work of the first translator and allow or deny it. In the collaboration process both editor and translator can communicate through the system and exchange messages.
  6. The translated content will be published in one or more languages.

When does it make sense to use xrow's Translation Manager?

  • The content is used more often. We'd like to save the translated phrases and sentences to use them more often inside the CMS or inside the whole company.
  • The content is edited frequently. Why can't we identify and translate only the changed sections?
  • Translating the content takes too long. Wouldn't it be great to let the content be translated by more than one translator that work simultanious on the same project withouth breaking the consistency of the terminology?
  • You are working with professional translators in principal.
  • You already have got on ore more Translation Memories in your company.

Advantages of xrow's Translation Manager with SDL Trados

  • The precision will be improved.
  • Also the quality increases.
  • Save up to 60% of the costs for your translations. Compare with the case of Siemens
